Lifting threads
The soluble threads have revolutionized aesthetic medicine, becoming the safe method of facial rejuvenation. Their use by an experienced doctor results in a lift effect where no scalpel is used. The effects of the treatment are long-lasting and the give immediate results.
PDO threads are smooth, absorbable and made of polidioxanone. Dissolvable stitches (threads) have been used in surgery an absorbable suture for 20 years. Numerous clinical studies confirm the safety of polidioxanone which in about 180-240 days after entering the human system undergoes gradual resorption. PDO threads stimulate the production of new collagen, the protein responsible for increasing the firmness, resilience and elasticity of the skin. The effect persists after the treatment by an average of 2 years (up to 24 months). PDO threads are most often used to reduce wrinkles around the lower eyelid and to strengthen the skin of the neck, cleavage and above the upper lip.
First Lift Barb 4D is a unique polydioxan thread with a system of microscopic hooks. Until now, the hooks were placed on one side of the thread only. In new, modified Barb 4D threads, the hooks are distributed densely around the thread in the so-called “four dimensions” which results in more intensified effect.
Threads length is determined by individual needs of the patient. Barb 4D threads are most often used to float the sagging cheeks (a.k.a hamsters). The effect of floating is proportional to the number of threads used. Immediately after the insertion of the hooks under the skin a tissue lifting resulting from the mechanical effect of the thread on the subcutaneous tissue is visible. After approximately 14 days, the formation of new collagen and elastin in the areas of threads implantation begins. In addition, an increased production of hyaluronic acid takes palce. The threads are gradually absorbed within eight months, and a natural collagen thread is formed in their place. This process is accomplished by fibroblasts, a type of biological cell that syntesizes the extra cellar matix and collagen producing the structural framework for new tissues.
The threads are gradually absorbed within eight months, and a natural collagen thread is formed in their place. The effect persists after the treatment by an average of 2 years (up to 24 months). The final effect of the treatment can be evaluated after 2-3 months.

PRE- TREATMENT RECOMMENDATIONS
There is no need for any recommendations before the treatment. To avoid bruising, a week before the treatment, one shall stop using aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and other medications that reduce blood clotting (e.g. extract from Ginko biloba). Patients with recurring cold ought to start taking acyclovir in a preventive dose.
Directly following the treatment some patients may have excessive swelling, redness and skin sensitivity.
COURSE OF THE TREATMENT
The treatment is performed under local anesthesia. The place of threads implantation is set individually to the needs of a patient and is anaesthetized with lignocaine. There is no need to cut the skin, since the threads are inserted with a thin needle-cannula into the subcutaneous tissue. After the implementation of the Barb 4D thread under the skin, the hooks open, lifting the area of the skin selected which brings the intended lifting effect. After the treatment with Barb 4D threads, bruises or hematomas may occur of the place of the thread implantation. On the course of the Barb 4D threads, minor irregularities can be seen, persisting for 2 weeks. The place of implantation of the thread is anaesthetized with anesthetic ointment.
In the first days after the treatment, bruising, redness or tenderness can occur. The symptoms are self-limiting within a matter of days.
